Astonishing, and yet.
This is the principle of
"Whole Body Cryotherapy" (WBC).

There are two types of cryotherapy cabins:

Liquid Nitrogen

Dry Air

Life I Act has opted for the second
(dry air) also called “Whole Body Cryotherapy” which promises far more benefits to the rehabilitation process as the head is also an integral part of the treatment.

Simply put, cryotherapy is “super-cooling” of the
body for therapeutic purposes. The cabin, designed
by Mecotec, the leading German cold treatment
company, exposes the patient to a temperature of
-85 ° C minimum. A vasoconstriction system is put in
place by the body, when the person enters the cabin,
followed by vasodilation as soon as they leave,
causing changes in blood flow and oxygenation of
the tissues. To compensate for the extreme cold, the
body will trigger a series of physiological responses
and massively produce hormones - endorphin
(painkiller), serotonin (serenity) and norepinephrine
(anti-inflammatory) – thanks to, among other things,
the stimulation of the hypothalamus. These
reactions ensure an adequate temperature for the
proper functioning of vital organs. Results? A general
feeling of well-being from the first session.

Well-being

Cryotherapy relieves many pathologies: rheumatology (muscle pain, osteoarthritis), trauma (injuries, postoperative condition), neurology (spasticity, migraines) and dermatology, especially in cases of psoriasis and eczema. It helps athletes or sport lovers on several levels: it can support their recovery after exercise as well as improve their performance and relieve aches, pains, and injuries. This process is also widely recognised in the context of general well-being by acting on fatigue, stress, the quality of the skin or by boosting morale. In cryotherapy, it is important to give the body a rhythm so that it gets used to it and can feel the expected results over time.

The first session lasts about 45 minutes, during
which you will establish with the cryotherapist
your health assessment, your expectations and
she will make sure that there are no contraindications.

The skin remains dry during the treatment, which
lasts between 3 and 5 minutes inside the cabin.
During the session, you will be dressed in your
underwear or swimsuit and equipped with a hat,
mask, gloves, and socks to protect the extremities.
The number of sessions will depend on your goal.
After a session, the cryotherapist ensures that
your body temperature returns to normal.

tecartherapy

tecartherapy

TECAR Therapy is a method of

Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive,

which can stimulate the passage of energy in biological tissues
and to activate the natural processes of repair and recovery.

It is a medical practice, used by osteopaths or physiotherapists, amongst others, that applies electromagnetic energy to biological tissue. The electromagnetic frequency applied originates from the radiofrequency spectrum. Unlike electrotherapy it does not provoke muscle contraction. The therapeutic wavelength spectrum ranges from 300 KHz to 1.2 MHz. The high-frequency current’s path and the created electromagnetic field are determined by the position of the electrodes and the patient’s body composition. The electromagnetic field created, generates heat, allowing targeted, easy-to-manage therapeutic applications.

The heat-induced vasodilation increases the exchange of substances resulting in drainage of the inflamed area and an influx of reparative cells. TECAR therapy also has pain resolving properties through its stimulation of endorphin production.

How does it work?

Have you ever hit your knee really hard and then rubbed it to make the pain go away? The pain doesn’t actually go away. What happens is the surrounding nerves are stimulated by the friction and the pain signal from your knee gets confused. The pain remains the same, but the brain doesn’t register it as much. When you go through TECAR Therapy, an electrode head will be placed on the site of your pain, and you will feel a zapping. This zapping creates the same effect, and it works for much more intense pain. This nerve stimulation can stop your nerves compounding the effect of the initial pain and can ease the inflammation, therefore reducing pain. In addition, the heat speeds up your metabolism. This causes your blood to flow faster and to become more oxygenated.

The result is that more oxygen, and other healing properties of your body’s natural systems, are rushed to the hurt area. The waste is also removed more quickly. The overall result is that your pain is reduced significantly, and the injury is healed more quickly.

The beneficial effects of TECAR therapy are mostly used in physical therapy, rehabilitation and pain management for bruises and sprains, post-surgery rehabilitation, sport traumas, muscle and tendon disorders, neuropathies, scar tissue, spine and peripheral joint disorders, vascular and lymphatic system disorders, orthopaedic disorders of the peripheral nervous system, pelvic floor rehabilitation, acute and chronic pain.

Cryoscreen is a therapeutic tool of NeuroCryoStimulation.

Cryoscreen is a therapeutic tool of NeuroCryoStimulation. To put it simply, it is a localised treatment that works by using a CO2 gas jet that applies both a slight pressure (neurological stimulation of the mechanoreceptors on the treated surface) while bringing a drop in temperature from 32 degrees to 4 degrees in about 30 seconds (Cryotherapy).

It is most used by our physiotherapists
for the following treatments:

Pain relief

The pressure stimulation of mechanoreceptors blocks the pain signals that travel to the brain and stimulates the healing process at the targeted location. The cold also acts on the pain relief by desensitizing the pain receptors.

Managing inflammations

Cold has many and varied effects on the management of inflammatory reactions. Among other things, it reduces the accumulation of fluid and inflammatory markers in the affected area (enzymes and hormones). This is achieved by the rapid change in temperature which reduces and then increases the blood supply to the targeted area to "cleanse" the area of damaged tissue and provide a new supply of nutrients.

Muscle relaxation

The increase in vascularity brought about by the change in temperature (when the body warms up after being exposed to the cold) has a positive effect on possible muscle spasm or simply helps to relax a tight muscle.

All the above-mentioned benefits may also give therapists greater flexibility in the choice of treatment, as these are often limited by the level of tenderness, muscle spasms, or inflammation accompanying an injury or certain types of injuries, such as osteoarthritis and other inflammatory conditions, tendonitis, ankle sprain, contusions, and edema.

Therapy post surgeries for sports injuries or other physical injuries is important to nurse the individual back to health. Thanks to our state-of-the-art equipment in our dedicated physical rehabilitation center, we accompany patients through the recovery and restoration of a wide range of conditions from mild orthopaedic conditions such as joint pain to disabling neurological conditions such as spinal cord injuries and brain injuries, to post-operative rehabilitation of the patient’s knee and shoulder ligament reconstruction and repair. We work in close collaboration with the orthopaedic surgeon in the case of post-operative rehab.

Each condition and each patient are treated differently. We primarily use various therapies, orthosis, adaptive equipment, and assistive devices to treat patients however medications and injections are also used for neurological and orthopaedic conditions to maximise recovery. We also treat athletes having sports injuries such as muscle strain, ligament sprain, tennis elbow, back pain etc. Patients can exercise under the supervision of the physiotherapist.

fitness for seniors

Fitness for seniors

Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation & Fitness Services for seniors and elderly

Our programme dedicated to seniors provides customised physiotherapy, rehabilitation, fitness schedules, group exercise classes to seniors in a welcoming and peaceful space of our center.

The group exercise class is designed to improve muscle and core strength, flexibility, and dynamic balance. Flexibility refers to the amount of movement possible around a joint and is necessary for normal activities of daily living such as stretching, twisting, bending, and turning. Maintenance of flexibility is important as posture and gait can be affected by sedentary living. An exercise program is important at all times of life, but especially as you age. Ramping up your workouts is important in your senior years, as physical activity can improve your flexibility and reduce the risk of some health conditions. Being mobile, strong, and steady on your feet can help you stay independent, which can boost your confidence and well-being as you get older.

The class is conducted by a physiotherapist or fitness trainer specialised in exercise for seniors. Seniors receive instruction on the proper execution of exercises which are performed at the recommended frequency, duration, and repetitions. Modifications are made during the class to customise exercise to those attending.
